Jim is the practice Leader for the CRC Environmental Insurance and Risk Management Unit. We specialize in environmental insurance and environmental risk management consultation.
Jim brings over 25 years of Environmental Risk Management experience in the insurance brokerage and environmental claims settlement business. Jim is one of the Key Personnel for a contract with the United States Environmental Protection Agency as the US EPA’s “Environmental Insurance Expert,” providing “Insurance Expert Support for Superfund Enforcement Settlements and Case Work” for various US EPA divisions (OSRE) the US DOJ and US DoD.
Jim is one of the nation’s leading brokers for placement of OPPI and CPL OCIP coverage on real estate development projects with over $25 Billion of Hard Cost Construction Values actively insured. Jim and the Environmental Unit have exceptionally strong relationships with, and have access to, all of the environmental insurance carriers and have authored, or coauthored, over two dozen of the industry’s environmental insurance policy forms.
Jim is also the first broker to have used Environmental Cost Cap insurance as a Financial Assurance instrument for a US EPA Superfund Site in US EPA Region V. He is on the Executive Committee of the Colorado Brownfields Association and has been a speaker and written articles for numerous environmental insurance seminars.
Before joining Crump Environmental (formerly TriCity and JCH Environmental) , Jim was a Director of Dispute Resolution Management, Inc. (DRM), an international consulting firm that specializes in Environmental, Asbestos, Product Liability and Insolvent Carrier claim settlements. DRM’s projects included detailed insurance policy archaeology, policy form review, environmental claim quantification and qualification, claim allocation to historical coverage, settlement targeting and review/development of post-settlement risk transfer options.
Prior to joining DRM, Mr. Hamilton was an environmental insurance broker and the founder of the environmental insurance and risk management division of a leading US insurance brokerage firm headquartered in the Midwest.
Mr. Hamilton’s current and past clients include numerous Fortune 500 and TSE 100 companies, Brownfield developers, Superfund PRP groups, TSD facilities and environmental engineering firms and contractors. His familiarity with complex environmental and asbestos claim settlements, as well as Regulatory Agency perspectives, environmental risk and cost quantification, the remedial redevelopment business and innovative risk transfer programs add significant breadth of experience to the CRC Environmental team.
