Monthly Renewal Pricing Analysis

Q3 2026 Private D&O REDY Index chart

Results displayed above reflect average CRC Group Private D&O renewal pricing changes by month (over the previous 12 months). Results are limited to brokerage accounts that renewed in the same month as the prior year with the same total account limits. To remove outliers, the top and bottom 1% of accounts by YoY % change have been removed, as well as the top and bottom 1% of accounts by rate online (Premium/Limit*100). The REDY Index is intended for educational purposes only as individual accounts typically differ from average pricing trends.

Ongoing Private D&O Issues

The private D&O market remained soft to stable in Q3 2026. Preliminary REDY Index monthly average premium changes of +1.2% in July, -0.9% in August, and +0.1% in September suggest broadly flat pricing. Automated renewals generally offer flat pricing or slight increases, with less aggressive new-business undercutting.

Competition continues to restrain attempted increases, with some negotiated back to flat pricing or slight reductions. Selective premium increases and retention pressure remain part of the outlook, not a blanket 5% forecast or a uniform Q3 outcome. Comparing pricing, retentions, and negotiable coverage terms remains important even when automated renewals appear attractive.

Financial resilience and access to capital remain central underwriting considerations. Economic uncertainty, capital-market stress, and supply-chain exposure can affect operating performance and obligations. AI governance and regulatory change add management liability concerns, warranting account-specific discussion of financial statements, liquidity, and board oversight.

Higher-risk industries, distressed companies, and claims-affected accounts may face selective underwriting, higher retentions, or less favorable terms. Healthcare, fintech, and cryptocurrency exposures warrant particular diligence. Brokers also report attempted major-shareholder and family exclusions restricting shareholder litigation. Careful coverage review and negotiation remain essential to preserving meaningful coverage: stable premiums should not obscure narrower protection.
